The Management of U-DRIFT.

U-DRIFT Inspection Requirements

Safety Helmet: You must wear a modern race-approved safety helmet when driving at U-DRIFT.

Shoes: Visible toes are prohibited (e.g. no sandals, no bare feet, no high heels).

Clothes: Shirts must be worn. Vision must not be impaired. Offensive language can not be openly displayed. Cumbersome or dangerous jewelry (including body-pierced chains) may not be worn while on the skid-pad. Fire retardant clothing is suggested.

Fire Extinguishers: Suggested for automobile driver/passenger cockpit (must be secured and usable); suggested for engine bay.

Safety Belts: DOT approved safety belts or race harnesses must be safely mounted to your car and worn by driver and any passengers. Passengers may not double-up under one safety belt.

Hub Caps: Hub caps and wheel covers/spinners are forbidden.

Brakes: Your brake pedal must be firm with no loss of pressure when pressed. Brakes that squeal loudly when stopping at the inspection will fail your vehicle.

Throttle: Your accelerator pedal must have a working return spring and operate smoothly.

Steering: Your steering must be tight and reasonably aligned.

Loose Items in Car: Loose items, including unbolted-down floor-mats, items in glove box or under seat, and unstrapped fire extinguishers, are forbidden.

Doors: automobiles must have locked doors in place on both sides of driver/passenger cockpit.

Suspension: Wheel bearings can not have mechanical "play" or make audible noise when turned.

Windows/Windshield: automobiles must have uncracked DOT-approved safety glass or 6mm+ thickness Lexan on all windshields and when cover exists on side windows (though open windows are acceptable).

Fluid Leaks: Visible fluid leaks (A/C condensation exempted) onto the asphalt during inspection will fail your vehicle. You are responsible for installing appropriate catch tanks or otherwise preventing leaks/spills from your vehicle. Leaks and spills onto the U-DRIFT skid-pad will result in $500 fines and/or ground cleanup duty for driver and passenger(s).

Smells: vehicles that smell of fuel leaks, oil leaks, hydraulic fluid leaks, electrical fires/shorts, or any "burning" smell while idling at inspection will be failed.

Securely-Mounted Battery: If equipped, your vehicle's "starter" battery must be held down securely. If it can be moved by hand then it will fail your vehicle.

U-DRIFT Markings: Your vehicle will be given window/windshield marks, hood magnets/stickers, mirror cards, and/or side-door/bumper magnets/stickers at the discretion of the U-DRIFT staff on-site. Do not allow ANYONE other than U-DRIFT staff to write on, erase, move/remove, or add (to) any of the above. If a marking is modified (e.g. by course debris/maneuvers or by vandals, etc.) then it is your responsibility to immediately notify the U-DRIFT staff. These markings contribute to U-DRIFT safety operations and also serve as payment verification, so their forgery/abuse/modification/alteration can result in the loss of your U-DRIFT driver's license.

Waivers: You must read, agree, sign, and show your skid-pad waiver forms or U-Drift license to U-DRIFT staff at inspection. Lack of approved waivers or U-Drift license will fail your vehicle.

Under-Age: Drivers and passengers not yet 18 years of age must present a signed minor form and a parentally-signed consent form.

Payment: You must make payment to U-DRIFT staff at inspection. Lack of payment will fail your vehicle.

U-DRIFT Operations

Congratulations! To be approved for playing at U-DRIFT, your vehicle has passed the tech inspection!

Your vehicle should now idle at the tech inspection entrance gate while you wait for your turn. U-DRIFT staff will direct you to the appropriate place on our facility at the appropriate time. Follow their directions to go to your pre-paid event (e.g. to the Burn-Out plates or drifting course). Make your run. Make one run/pass only. Have fun! Return to the end of the waiting line of vehicles at the tech inspection entrance gate and wait for your U-DRIFT staff to direct you to a future run/pass as appropriate. Repeat as desired.

NOTE: for safety reasons your run/pass could potentially be cut short by U-DRIFT staff (e.g. tornado sighted nearby, fire, pedestrian/trespasser on course, etc.). IMMEDIATELY STOP YOUR VEHICLE IN PLACE if you see a red U-DRIFT emergency flag being waved at you, and/or if you hear an emergency announcement or horn/whistle from U-DRIFT staff. DO NOT CONTINUE DRIVING in *any* direction until you are directed to so do by U-DRIFT staff in such an emergency. Stop your vehicle!

You will receive free credit for two new runs/passes if such an emergency is not your fault (e.g. not due to a safety problem with your vehicle or driving), however, failure to immediately stop your vehicle could result in the loss of your U-DRIFT driver's license. Stop your vehicle!

Penalties: dropping/throwing items from your vehicle, sneaking passengers or audience into the arena or viewing area, endangering staff, audience, or other participants, fighting, threats, graffiti or vandalism to U-DRIFT or participants' property, lasers, fires, mobile loudspeakers, obnoxiously vulgar language/behavior, abusing substances or otherwise being intoxicated, engaging in illegal activity, failing to properly follow U-DRIFT staff directions and/or rules, or otherwise detracting from everyone else having fun at U-DRIFT will result in fines, expulsion or mandatory skid-pad work-duty, and the potential forfeiture of your U-DRIFT driver's license.
