U-DRIFT Tech Check

Safety Helmet: Driver/Passenger is wearing a modern race-approved safety helmet.

Shoes: Visible toes are prohibited (e.g. no sandals, no bare feet, no high heels).

Clothes: Shirts must be worn. Vision must not be impaired. Offensive language can not be openly displayed. Cumbersome or dangerous jewelry (including body-pierced chains) may not be worn while on the skid-pad. Fire retardant clothing is suggested.

Fire Extinguishers: Required for automobile driver/passenger cockpit (must be secured and usable).

Safety Belts: DOT approved safety belts must be safely mounted to your car and worn by driver and any passengers. Passengers may not double-up under one safety belt.

Hub Caps: Hub caps and wheel covers/spinners are forbidden.

Lug Nuts/Lug Bolts: No open lug holes means all lugs must be present and tight.

Brakes: Brake pedal must be firm with no loss of pressure when pressed. Brakes that squeal loudly when stopping at the inspection will fail vehicle.

Throttle: Accelerator pedal must have a working return spring and operate smoothly.

Steering: Steering must be tight and reasonably aligned.

Loose Items in Car: Loose items, including unbolted-down floor-mats, items in glove box or under seat, and unstrapped fire extinguishers, are forbidden.

Roll Cage: to be approved for extreme drifting runs, car must have a U-DRIFT approved cockpit.

Doors: automobiles must have locked doors in place on both sides of driver/passenger cockpit.

Suspension: Wheel bearings can not have mechanical "play" or make audible noise when turned.

Windows/Windshield: automobiles must have uncracked DOT-approved safety glass on all windshields and when cover exists on side windows (though open windows are acceptable).

Fluid Leaks: [look below] No visible fluid leaks (A/C condensation exempted) onto the asphalt.

Smells: vehicles that smell of fuel leaks, oil leaks, hydraulic fluid leaks, electrical fires/shorts, or any "burning" smell while idling at inspection will be failed.

Sound: [rev engine] Vehicle at full throttle/power must be quieter than 90dbA from 40 feet away.

Securely-Mounted Battery: [open hood] vehicle's "starter" battery must be held down securely.

Waivers: Driver/Passenger must read, agree, sign, and show skid-pad waiver forms to U-DRIFT staff at inspection. Lack of approved waivers will fail your vehicle.

Under-Age: Drivers and passengers not yet 18 years of age must present a signed minor form and a parentally-signed consent form.

Rule Book: Driver must physically show the rule book.

U-DRIFT License: Driver must show his/her U-DRIFT driver's license at inspection.

Alcohol: Driver must pass breathalyzer and/or appear sober.
